The Highway Department is responsible for maintenance to town roads, mowing roadsides, maintenance of roadside ditches, snow plowing and sanding all roads, installation and maintenance of road signs as per N.Y.S. D.O.T. guidelines

The Wayne County Highway Department or the New York State Department of Transportation maintains some of the roads in the Town of Ontario.  With the exception of winter snowplow operations, questions regarding the roads listed below should be referred to the appropriate department.

Due to health issues, the Highway Department will ONLY pick up dead deer.  For all domestic animals, please contact the Dog Control Officer at (315) 524-6419.

Town Wide cleanups are held at the Town Highway Department generally in May each year for residents to dispose of unwanted items such as old furniture, clothing, and appliances.  Because of environmental issues, we cannot accept chemical products, chemical containers or household garbage.
