 Services of the Parks and Recreation Department

  • Programs - The Parks and Recreation Department offers recreation programs throughout the year.  These programs are located at both town and Wayne Central School facilities.  All programs are advertised in a program guide that is sent to every resident of Ontario three times a year:  Summer, Fall/Winter and Spring.

  • Casey Park - Located at 6551 Knickerbocker Road, approximately 1 mile north of Route 104, 3 miles south of Lake Road.  The park is available for family picnics, ball games, swimming, boating (canoe and paddle boat rental), and nature walks or hiking.  We now have picnic kits (a bag filled with a soccer ball, bases, bat, bocce set, kickball, horseshoes, volleyball, Frisbee & whiffle ball) all for a $9.00 rental charge.  Open year round, 9:00AM to dusk.  Swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are on duty.

  • Ontario Community Center-  The Community Center offers healthy lifestyle options for area residents of all ages.  The main building houses a fitness center, classrooms, locker rooms and offices. The facility also includes a 12,800 sq. ft. indoor turf arena, an 8,500 sq. ft. gymnasium, and an indoor walking track.  Memberships are available Get the latest info on new programs and promotions in this month's newsletter.
     

  • Park Pavilion Use - One pavilion and the  Casey Park Lodge are available for picnics.  Permits are required and are available at the Parks and Recreation Office, at least two weeks advanced notice is required.    Please contact the Recreation and Parks Department with questions.Rental Information

  • Bear Creek/Thompson Park - Bear Creek/Thompson Park is located at the Harbor on Lake Road between Knickerbocker Road and Furnace Road.  It offers boat-launching facilities, with a permit.  There is also a large grassy area along the lakeshore, which is suitable for picnics or just enjoying the view of Lake Ontario.  LAUNCHING PERMITS are available at the Ontario Town Clerk's Office.   The fee is $15.00 for residents and $50.00 for non-residents, for yearly permits.  Day launching permits are available during the boating season at $5.00 a day.

  • Ontario September Club - Ontario September Club meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month in Casey Park.  Any senior interested in trips, educational presentations, euchre tournaments, or just socializing, is welcome to attend.  For additional information please contact the Parks and Recreation Office.

  • Ontario Senior Site - The Ontario Senior Site is located at Brown Square Recreation Room.  The site provides a nutritious meal and social atmosphere for all senior citizens. Suggested donation for the meal is $2.50, but no one will be turned away based on inability to pay. The site also offers daily activities.  Call the Parks and Recreation Office to find out more.
