The Watershed Management Advisory Council was formed in 1993.  Since its inception, the Council has taken several directions.  All five major watersheds (Bear Creek, Deer Creek, Dennison Creek, Mill Creek and Four Mile Creek) in the Town of Ontario have been cleaned.  The Watershed is currently working on implementing a maintenance program to keep the watersheds operating to capacity.  The Watershed Council is also working to clear secondary feeders off the main creeks as well as problem areas that are brought to and prioritized by the Watershed Council.  The Watershed Council has many resources and contacts available to assist the residents with their drainage issues.

The future plans of the Watershed Council include building and maintaining man made drainage facilities such as retention and detention systems.  These systems are used when drainage to an existing watershed is not feasible or cost effective.  Properly constructed retention/detention systems provide new habitat for wildlife, plant life and water quality.

The Watershed Council encourages residents to help us in our efforts.  We ask that residents not obstruct drainage ditches or creeks with grass clippings, garbage or other debris.
