The Watershed Management Advisory Council was formed by the Ontario Town Board in 1993. Since that time, the Council has pursued numerous projects. Each of the five (5) major watersheds in the Town of Ontario have been cleaned. (e.g. Bear Creek, Deer Creek, Dennison Creek, Mill Creek & Four Mile Creek). The Council also started a long-range plan to maintain these creeks and clean the secondary creeks which feed them to keep the watersheds functioning properly. Future plans of the Council include monitoring the major creeks and tributaries, reviewing current drainage and storm water issues and working with town officials and advisory boards in constructing and maintaining facilities such as retention and detention ponds.T he Council and Town officials also participate in the Ontario-Wayne Joint MS4 Coalition which provides training, resources and some funding for state and federal regulations in the four (4) areas of separate, storm sewer systems which govern proper land use & storm water management. For more information, please click on the following link. |
