Services of the Parks and Recreation Department

Programs
The Parks and Recreation Department offers recreation programs throughout the year. These programs are located at both town and Wayne Central School facilities. All programs are advertised in a program guide that is published and available online three times a year: Summer, Fall/Winter and Spring.

Casey Park
Located at 6551 Knickerbocker Road, approximately 1 mile north of Route 104, 3 miles south of Lake Road. The park is available for family picnics, ball games, swimming, boating (canoe and paddle boat rental), and nature walks or hiking.  Click here for more information on the trails at Casey Park. Open year round, 9:00 am to dusk. Swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are on duty.

Ontario Community Center
The Community Center offers healthy lifestyle options for area residents of all ages. The main building houses a fitness center, classrooms, locker rooms and offices. The facility also includes a 12,800 sq. ft. indoor turf arena, an 8,500 sq. ft. gymnasium, and an indoor walking track. Memberships are available. Park Pavilion Use
Two pavilions and the Casey Park Lodge are available for picnics. Permits are required and are available at the Parks and Recreation Office, at least two weeks advanced notice is recommended. Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department with questions. Rental Information Email your Questions.

Bear Creek/Thompson Park
Bear Creek/Thompson Park is located at the Harbor on Lake Road between Knickerbocker Road and Furnace Road. It offers boat-launching facilities, with a permit. There is also a large grassy area along the lakeshore, which is suitable for picnics or just enjoying the view of Lake Ontario. LAUNCHING PERMITS are available at the Ontario Town Clerk's Office and at the Parks and Recreation Department. One day passes may also be purchased at the Ontario Community Center.

Two Year Permit - Town Resident $40.00
Annual Permit - Non-Resident $100.00
One Day Launch Permit $5.00
By mail: Send one copy of the NYS registration per vehicle and applicable fees payable to Ontario Parks and Recreation.

Ontario Senior Site
The Ontario Senior Site is located at Brown Square Recreation Room. The site provides a nutritious meal and social atmosphere for all senior citizens. Suggested donation for the meal is $3.00, but no one will be turned away based on inability to pay. The site also offers daily activities. Call the Parks and Recreation Office to find out more.  Be sure to check out the Monthly Lunch Menu available online.
